Tom started his insurance career immediately out of college as a commercial lines underwriter with the Cincinnati Insurance Company. From there, he joined the brokerage department of Johnson & Higgins in Phoenix, AZ. After getting retail insurance experience with J&H, Tom moved to San Diego and started his E&S career with the Crump Group. In 1997, Tom and his wife purchased the Crump Group's office in San Diego and re-named it Sowers Baccala Insurance Brokerage. For the next 13 years, Tom and his wife successfully built the E&S brokerage firm into a quality wholesale brokerage operation. On March 31, 2010, Sowers Baccala became the first wholesale brokerage acquisition of RT Specialty, LLC. Tom's focus is sophisticated construction liability placements and crane & rigging accounts.
